We are thankful for…

(In no particular order.)

  • The Anonymous Donor of our sound system.  What an amazing difference this has made in our performances!
  • Principal Kevin Huskins and the use of the Mountain Heritage High School Auditorium. We never would have been able to accommodate the crowds for Mulan Jr. if not for the larger auditorium. We love to see organizations working together to support the kids in the community.
  • Parents! This is especially from Parkway Playhouse Jr.  We cannot say enough about our gratitude for you.

  • Our Audience!  In particular, it tickled us to see how many people turned out for Mulan Jr. Your presence really meant a lot to the students and to us.  Thank you many times over.  The cast of A Christmas Carol is working hard for you, even this holiday weekend.  They want more than anything to inspire you to a Scrooge-like transformation to find your Christmas Spirit.
  • Greg Stella and our dedicated board.

  • North Carolina Arts Council & our other business sponsors
  • Yancey County. This is a thanks for the roof over our heads, yes, but also includes Jeannie Ray and the Mountain Heritage Building for our warm offices in the winter… and on the flip side…
  • We’re still thankful for AIR-CONDITIONING in the summer!
  • Our Members.  This can include you.  Find more information here.
  • The oooodles of volunteers.  Actors, ushers, writers, designers, costumers, students, apprentices, musicians, poster-hangers, floor-sweepers, and all the cogs that fit together to make Parkway Playhouse so much fun.

We are truly fortunate to be a growing theatre.

Parkway Playhouse, located in the Appalachian town of Burnsville, NC, is a haven of theatre talent. While people come to the mountains to get away, Parkway Playhouse is a natural gathering place to connect. Likewise, we are an extension of traditional mountain talents: singing, dancing, and, foremost, storytelling. By giving rise to energetic new voices and through a wide variety of plays and musicals, we invite our audience into experiences that are thought-provoking, adventurous, and entertaining. Together we reimagine the world in every live performance, creating dynamic conversations that last far beyond the curtain call. This blog is will feature stories, helpful information, insight and features about the performances.
