Parkway Playhouse’s 69th Season will commence with performances of Disney’s Cinderella KIDS, performed by Parkway Playhouse Jr. Students, on April 24 and 25.  Those two performances are the first of over fifty scheduled  Parkway Playhouse performances in 2015.  The theatre will attract thousands of visitors and residents of the Western North Carolina region to Burnsville.  With a busy season ahead,  volunteer ushers at Parkway Playhouse will most certainly be in the spotlight.  Currently, Parkway Playhouse is looking for volunteers who would be interested in serving as an usher during the 2015 Season.

There will be two training sessions for ushers. The first is on Friday March 27 at 10:00am and the second is on Saturday March 28 at 2:00pm.  Both of these training sessions will be held at the Mountain Heritage Center located at 113 Green Mountain Drive.  (It is the building directly across the street from the Parkway Playhouse front door.)  The sessions are open to anyone interested in learning more about being involved.

“The theatre experience begins when people walk in the door” comments Parkway Playhouse Artistic Director, Andrew Gall.  “Our ushers and box office personnel set the mood by making sure patrons are in their seats with their questions answered and are ready for what happens next.  It is really important and we have had the incredible good fortune to have a such a robust and active group of volunteers who make sure that patrons are made to feel welcome and at home whether they are a regular here or joining us for the first time.”

Parkway Playhouse ushers arrive with the cast and crew and join in getting the theatre ready before each performance.  Ushers help people find their seats, distribute Playbills, and answer questions.  At intermission they make sure audiences who desire refreshments or a glass of wine get timely service.  Each usher also has their own assigned seat during the performance, which they get to watch without having to purchase a ticket.
