Quiltmaker Profile: Lois Kaufmann

Lois Kaufmann (of Goshen, IN) is a Parkway Playhouse Junior grandparent to Max, Vaughn, and Drew Smoker. (She is also my (Britt Kaufmann’s) mom.) DSCF8295 Pattern: Starry Path

Several years ago I made a crib quilt for a grandson with a starry sky theme, using many kinds of pieced starts. “Starry Path” was my favorite. The love of quilts and quilting came from my mother, no longer living. I hope this creative and functional art form lives on in my daughter Britt and the next generation too.

Lois will be traveling to North Carolina in a few weeks to see her grandson Max in Annie, Jr. Annie Banner copy If you still haven’t finished your quilt block or turned it in, there’s still time! But don’t put it off any longer. Please have quilt squares for inclusion to Fabrics in the Fray or  Parkway Playhouse by April 9.

Parkway Playhouse, located in the Appalachian town of Burnsville, NC, is a haven of theatre talent. While people come to the mountains to get away, Parkway Playhouse is a natural gathering place to connect. Likewise, we are an extension of traditional mountain talents: singing, dancing, and, foremost, storytelling. By giving rise to energetic new voices and through a wide variety of plays and musicals, we invite our audience into experiences that are thought-provoking, adventurous, and entertaining. Together we reimagine the world in every live performance, creating dynamic conversations that last far beyond the curtain call. This blog is will feature stories, helpful information, insight and features about the performances.
