Parkway Playhouse Box Office Opens on April 16th!

Parkway Playhouse, Burnsville’s award-winning theatre company, will open its Box Office on April 16 at 1:00pm.  Parkway Playhouse is located at 202 Green Mountain Drive in Burnsville, and this is the historic theatre’s 69th consecutive season.

With over 50 performances that range from children’s performances to high-energy musical comedies; to a stirring homage to a hometown musical inspiration; to classics of the world stage Parkway Playhouse is brimming with activity.  Season Ticket packages are now available for the Parkway Playhouse’s Mainstage Season.  Box office hours will be 1:00pm to 5:00pm Thursday through Saturday and one hour before each performance.

Parkway Playhouse Seaosn Tickets come in the form of flexible admissions that can be used throughout the Mainstage season.  Packages range from a four-admission package for $60.00 and a six-admission package that sells for $90.00.

Parkway Playhouse’s 2015 Mainstage Season includes four plays and two musicals:

The 69th Mainstage season on the historic Parkway Playhouse stage starts on May 2 with the North Carolina premeire of The Quiltmaker, a Southern-gothic comedy by Catherine Bush, the author of 2014’s popular Walkng Across Egypt.  On June 6, Arcadia; a ravishing, time-spanning romantic comedy by the Academy Award winning writer of Shakespeare in Love opens.  Starting on June 27, Parkway Playhouse will re-mount its production of the locally written and inspired Esley: The Life and Musical Legacy of Leslie Riddle  by Jeff Douglas Messer.  This production will be presented in partnership with Yancey County’s Traditional Voices Group and Riddlefest, which is dedicated to preserving traditional mountain stories and music.  At a special one-time performance on July 3, the cast of Esley will join Grammy-award winner David Hold and Josh Goforth for a special Riddlefest Concert. Holt last played at Parkway Playhouse in 2006 and the concert sold out in hours.  On July 25 Parkway Playhouse’s season continues with All Shook Up,  a popular musical farce that is set entirely to a score of music made famous by Elvis Pressley.  Red a Tony-Award winning play about Mark Rothko, one of the 20th Century’s most celebrated visual artists opens on August 22.  The mainstage season concludes with the stirring American masterpiece The Glass Menagerie  by Tennessee Williams.
