Parkway Playhouse Junior welcomes our newest teaching artist – Megan Gatts.
Megan is stage manager for Music Man Jr and Disney’s Winnie the Pooh KIDS.
Megan Gatts is a relatively new Teaching Artist at Parkway Playhouse, but she is not new to the Playhouse. Megan had an internship with Parkway Playhouse during the summer of 2011 and volunteered in the shop during the summer of 2013.
Megan was born in Raleigh, NC. She went to school in Holly Springs, Cary, and Boone, NC. Megan now lives in Burnsville with her parents.
Why do you enjoy being a teaching Artist working with Parkway Playhouse Junior students?
I am excited to share my long-held love of theatre and performance with the children and teenagers of our community. The Arts, including theatre, chorus, writing, and the visual arts, were such a huge part of my development when I was young. They helped me grow into a more broadminded, creative, and expressive person, not to mention the social, teamwork, and speaking skills these pursuits helped me develop. I am honored to help cultivate a similar love and experience with the students in Parkway Playhouse Junior.
How are you passionate about the Arts?
The Arts have always been a part of my life and have shaped me into the person I am today. I have participated in theatre, chorus, writing, and visual art both in and out of school as my primary creative outlets. In college, I chose to major in Studio Art with a minor in Creative Writing, still spending much of my free time working and acting in various performance and theatre projects, including taking elective classes on various aspects of theatre. The Arts have helped me make friends and professional connections as well as helped guide me to my current career path.
